@mavica_again you're not wrong here. Something about the joy of discovery (yes, shareware discs!); and the sense of it all being new? Maybe that's what's hard to find, because it is all now old...
@luxet i'm not sure if it's because it's all old, because i'm sure there's so many flash games and software from decades ago that i've never seen before! it's finding them now that's become a problem
@mavica_again you are almost certainly right. It's probably just my jaded view, but I remember a lot more innovation in tech and games through that era, so it was the ideas that were new, not just the games and apps themselves? Even the tech, like - 'what? A PCI graphics card?!?'. Meh, maybe it's me that's old and grumpy, or just out of the loop
