Though I'm still moved to point out that it was my own daydreaming that *led* to most of my meaningful contacts with real people. 🤔

So is it the daydreaming that's "maladaptive," or the way our society prevents people from sharing those dreams openly and empathetically?

@zebratron2084 @kara_dreamer The neurodivergence exhibited by the protagonist of that story, Clyde Bromely, is a disabling tendency to get lost in wild chains of association connecting whatever's in his mind at the time to popular idioms, snatches of old songs, &c. Sometimes he can corral it, sometimes he goes right off into the unknown....in any case, the story presents a darkly amusing picture of "maladaptation" as Bromely meanders away from correspondence with reality.
