Has any of y'all had the clock of a virtual box guest OS go out of sync with the host OS?

@quirk yes. the emulated rtc is ... emulated. best to run ntp on the guest OS if timekeeping is important. there are hacks around this but, really, just use ntp, it's the path of least resistance.

@purple I've read that one should not need to run ntp because virtualbox guest additions should keep them in sync, but evidently it's not working

@quirk yeah, it's never once worked for me. fwiw i eventually got so dissatisfied with vbox that i switched entirely to qemu/kvm

@purple ok, it's just a minor inconvenience for me so I'll just live with it, if I get late to work meeting I'll blame virtualbox 😅
