@patterfloof @philpem and sometimes you can even search articles cross-site I’ve noticed. Makes me think a lot are even running on the same host/DB.

@ret @patterfloof Most of them are owned by the same company. There aren't many truly independent local papers left.

@philpem @ret @patterfloof Sounds an awful lot like how most "local" radio stations are owned by Bauer or Global.

@renbymon @philpem @patterfloof I really miss proper local radio. It was great. All the imperfections and local mannerisms made it. I hate the polished sheen and national ads now.

@ret @philpem @patterfloof Thankfully there's a good number of community stations where I live and that's pretty much all I listen to when driving.

@renbymon @ret @patterfloof I should hook up the rooftop FM aerial again and see what I can pick up... might be more interesting than Radio 2

@philpem @ret @patterfloof I'm pretty sure you should be able to get LDC from where you are; I can just pick it up at ground level.
I'd like to get a DAB and FM antennas on the roof for maximum coverage. :)

@philpem @renbymon @patterfloof rather listen to Manchester airport ATIS than commercial radio :blobfoxmlem:

@ret @renbymon @patterfloof I probably shouldn't admit this but I have Leeds-Bradford ATIS saved on my ham rig...

This is information Bravo...

@philpem @renbymon @patterfloof I miss listening to Manchester air band (and just generally all the various bits of traffic around the city) as a student.

@renbymon @ret @patterfloof I assume you've heard of the "M1 radio game"?
You pick Bauer or Global, drive down the M1, and your passenger switches between stations as you go. The game is won by finding an out-of-sync stream during a switch...

@philpem @ret @patterfloof I have not! If Will have to try when I'm next travelling with a passenger. :)
