So. A couple years back. A friend was liquidating some retro computer gear.
One item was one of these really weird "Cyberdeck" looking things.
I was all "I MUST HAVE!!!!"
We worked out a deal and I swung past and collected it (and a couple other things >.>)
Introducing the Amstrad PPC 640
An NEC V30 running at a blistering 8 Mhz - Essentially a version of Intel's 8086. That's right. Not a 486, nor a 386. But an 086!
640 Kb of memory (Who would ever need more?)
Mono flip up display (With CGA out)
2 720 Kb floppies and a 2400 baud modem.
It's quirky in that it folds open to the front, leaving the keyboard in front of you. Unlike laptops of today where the lid folds back.
The monochrome display leans up and has some rather weak feeling detents to keep it in position. The included DOS 3.3 disk had software on that would let you hotkey the display between internal and external monitors.
