trying to find an old all-in-one mac my stepfather used to own. the most I remember is it was pretty small, ran Mac OS 8 and had this startup chime youtube.com/watch?v=_0HvKAPJQm

idk why i can't find it. either it was a really obscure mac model or my memory is deceiving me and it wasn't an all-in-one model

@squirrel I don't remember it having all the buttons on the front

@squirrel nope. also this model looks weird and it's making me kinda uncomfortable lmao

@squirrel the closest I can see in there is the color classic, and i don't think it was the color classic

@squirrel a lot of the space on the front was taken by the display itself, and i can't remember fully but i don't think there were any buttons on the front at all?

@Violet hmm i don't think there are AIO models without *any* button on the front?

@squirrel again, my memory may be serving me wrong and it may have been a standalone monitor sitting ontop of a mac. i really can't remember though

@squirrel i'm gonna keep researching. if i can't find it i'm just gonna have to as my stepdad and see if he can remember

@squirrel this looks near identical to what I was picturing in my head. according to wikipedia this machine couldn't run OS8 though? so i'm baffled chitter.xyz/media/K2Lv765Uem7W

@squirrel I have a feeling it may have been that same monitor combined with a newer mac

@squirrel looking up youtube videos and none of these make the boot sound I remember. still baffled

@squirrel I wish there were a list of macs per boot sound

@squirrel ok. referencing wikipedia "The first generation of Power Macintosh computers also do not use the Reekes chime, instead using a chord strummed on a Yamaha 12-string acoustic guitar by jazz guitarist Stanley Jordan"

it must have been a 1st gen power mac then. still can't identify which one in-particular though
