@squirrel it's a thing i've been working on, on and off, for like a year now. it's someone else's design (http://www.schmitzbits.de/vco4069.html).
essentially, it's an oscillator (that produces a saw wave (and some others)), the frequency of which is controlled by a voltage that comes in
this is a core component of any analog synthesizer, really

that or a drum machine, full of buttons
be my own roland and make an 808
