So, over on tumblr, there's a blog called old windows icons. That sounds pretty nifty (and, admittedly, it kinda is) until you notice that, recently, they've been posting icons from Vista.

I mean, I've joked before about Windows 7 being a retro operating system, but that just hurts.

@tinymira I mean, sure, but given that my first laptop ran Vista and that was when I was in third grade, it still makes me feel old to call Vista old and I don't like that. The passage of time is bullying me

@auravulpes I’m even older than you (I was a teen when vista came out), so in sincerity: if you can learn to enjoy it, your childhood memories becoming old can be really fun, because you get to enjoy other people discovering them in new contexts! 🌞💖
it can also help you enjoy the present more, bc you live it knowing it will be someone else’s nostalgic past 🥰
even niche mastodon instances will be nostalgic someday!
