@codl turkeys are called turkeys in english because when they were first discovered in america they were exported to england via mediterranian traders who came from turkey
so the english thought that they came from turkey rather than america
the turks didn't really do any better because they call turkeys "hindis" as in "from india" because columbus was a fucking idiot
