@kyzh can't say I recognise it as one with meaning but it looks like a technique to ensure that the person you're shaking hands with doesn't crush your hand
placing your finger on the wrist there reduces the amount of pressure they can put on your hand and also moves the position they're in so they can't squeeze across the knuckles
