There's a common style of wood stove that's popular with #TinyHouse enthusiasts. They all follow some variation of these, and they're great for quick warmth, but terrible at sustaining heat

Unless you add a water tank or something to the back to act as a thermal mass, the heat will go out fast. Because of the size of logs that can be used, you can't have the fire going for long either

On a cold night, it might be a pain to wake up and add logs

While space is an issue, I'd much rather have a small stove that's wide enough to accept standard size logs, while being short on depth to reduce floor space usage. You can't have anything too close to a wood stove anyway, so it's not a huge sacrifice in space

This is called a Stovax Vogue (there are already cheaper copies). A wider, flatter version of this might work better as a cooking stove
