Ok! #Gopher time.

I'm telling you all about my Gopher site now! I haven't mentioned the URL publicly yet, because there wasn't anything there.

Now there's stuff!

It's still not much, and I'm still moving things around and adding more and stuff, but you can see it.

from your web browser ofmanytrades.com:70/

from your gopher browser
gopher://ofmanytrades.com

I'm especially pleased with Music > 78s, which is an archive of more than 5000 78rpm records digitized by archive.org

I'm almost certain some Gopher clients are going to choke on the 78s menu.

I need to break it up in to multiple sub menus, probably.

I'll also slowly add some notes to various recordings, I imagine.

Beyond that, the Books menu has some CC-BY-NC stuff by Corey Doctorow, there is the complete archive or Dungeon Magazine.

Soon, I'll upload an archive of my personal blog, more books, some comics, movies, and TV shows (all legal to distribute.)

If anyone has any suggestions on the best way to lay out/organize more than 5000 audio files (with *MORE* on the way) for menu based browsing, let me know!

Also, more ways to interact! What if someone wanted to make a playlist of every song on that page, and have their media player shuffle them, how would they accomplish this?

@ajroach42 Usually I'd suggest Artist/Album but that wouldn't work great for that collection

Also, for the Dungeon Magazine section you could probably split that into different folders with, say, 50 items each to make it a bit quicker to find the one(s) you want

@troubleMoney
For dungeon, I was considering spliting them up by year, or something to that effect.

Normally, for music, Artist/Album is the way to go but 1) Many of these artists only have one track because the artists are *very* specific, down to the side men, and 2) these are almost uniformly singles from the pre-album era.

I was thinking *maybe* genre but that would leave thousands in each folder still.

Maybe year? Or... I dunno.

@troubleMoney Plus, if I can get a media player to understand that page as a playlist, I don't want to break that by breaking them up (unless I keep that there via symlinks or something?)

@ajroach42 Oh yeah, year would do nicely for the magazines

I suppose you could do it alphabetical for the music, probably still not ideal though
