I 100% support him in his making/running his own instance. Like, I fricking LOVE that people who wanna have their own style of social network can run it their way, and still be able to interact with the broader network and not get killed by the network effects.
But.

And, like, props to him for pushing the Mastodon platform to locked-down-ness places where nobody else would probably have tried.
(Maybe the https://maly.io people? There were a lot of infosec people there, iirc?)
(What are the chances he's publicized any of his config stuff?)
Also somebody -- probably not me, because I've KINDA just been trashing on him -- should point out that his Currently Blocked Nation States image contains extremely relevant content [the names of the countries] that isn't reflected in the alt-text, making it unaccessible to visually-impaired.
