@troubleMoney Still trying to figure out what the damn-doodly im doing but hey this seems cool it's got built in CWs and everybody's mentioning pronouns its neat

@synthgal I've found it much nicer around here than other social networky things

Be sure to check out the local and federated timelines if you want to find people to follow, and if you want to introduce yourself to everyone lots of people check the hashtag thing for new people

@troubleMoney is there like a thing that can drop down notifications ala facebook, or am I just gonna have to grin and bear it until I get used to a new layout?

@synthgal honestly haven't used facebook for years so I'm not entirely sure what those look like these days

As is you'll find all your notifications in the third panel, or if you'd prefer mastodon to look like twitter then there's halcyon.social which is a different front end, you just log in with your username from here and it's mastodon but looks like twitter

@troubleMoney facebook has a thingy where if you click the notifications icon a dropdown appears and lists them without having to go to a new page (twitter) or a dedicated column (mastodon)

I have the notifications column unpinned for the screen space but there's no indication to check notifications other than a little *bing* sound. maybe i'm mastodoning wrong idk

Follow

@synthgal ah, right

Far as I know there isn't any way to do it like facebook but various people are working on loads of different interfaces so there might be one that does it that way at some point

For the most part everyone just keeps the notifications column there

@troubleMoney it'll probably be more useful to have screen space dedicated to notifications once I actually communicate with more than one person, probably
