pixellation and intentional lo-fi graphics in video games functioning in horror as an 'offscreen' or 'seeing it happen in silhouette' - not showing details = actually scarier as the audience gets to fill in the blanks
ref. the secret room challenge mode cutscenes in #fnaf sister location, lone survivor/obra dinn?, heavily compare to silence of the lambs (where worst horror is offscreen, more impactful for it)
