ok back to happy gamer mom anecdotes:

to tell you all how much my mom loves me, when she was playing through king's quest 4 (which is a bastard of a difficulty point and click), she saved one of the (FEW. 3 at that time i think) save slots a one point in the game where you summon a unicorn by a waterfall. just so whenever me or my sister asked, we could see the unicorn, over and over again.

this may not seem like a big thing unless you've ever actually played a sierra point and click. but those things? unfair bastards. fucking unfair shitmonster games that will let you very easily get them into an unwinnable state, and not tell you that it's unwinnable until it's 5 hours later. oh, and lots of sudden deaths.

dark souls has nothing on sierra. and this is good, because soulsborne games are tough, but fair. sierra games ARE NOT FAIR. AT ALL. they are mean bastards.

so my mom using one of her very, very limited save slots? a big deal. immensely so. but she did, just so her daughters could see a little pixel unicorn whenever they wanted.

so in summary: sometimes people are good! and the kindness we receive even if it seems small and silly can inspire us to pass it on to other people! and on that note i love all y'all and merry christmas! 💖
