i found my exact laptop online for cheap and its in my price range,,, but i can't decide if i just want another laptop or if i should probably invest in something that is better quality + would last longer than a laptop,,, i dont,,, know,,, but it would be nice,,, to not have to run overwatch on a laptop that,,,, cant run it /that/ well,,,

@knifethievingcrow oh hey, i do actually know some stuff about gaming laptops! or rather, laptops that can run games good. don't actually buy an official ~*gaming laptop*~ that looks like it's brought to you by mountain dew, those get a heavy upcharge lol.

the main things you'll want to look for:

1. a separate graphics card off the motherboard, with its own RAM

2. mention of a cooling system with some beefiness to it (and also plan to use it with a lapdesk)

@knifethievingcrow personally i quite like my ASUS because it advertized a special cooling system to keep your wrists cool when you're playing games. (it just looks like a regular laptop tho lol)

as for what type of gpu, well, i often find looking up card by card is best, i'm not diehard nvidia or AMD. just toss a quick google of the specific card to see if people are like THIS IS AMAZING or THIS IS THE WORST EVER tbh. most are p good, but there are some occasional stinkers on both sides.

Follow

@knifethievingcrow the other feature that i think is real nice: a solid state drive for your operating system.

ssds are a little less reliable in some contexts, and are more expensive so you'll probably only get one small one in there, but HOLY SHIT THEY FAST AS FUCK. i was all 'whatever' about this feature until i got it and now windows reboots, like, in a blink? it's so fucking fast what the fuck.

it's a nice thing but not really a huge dealbreaker if you can't find tho lol.
