@alexcleac@mastodon.technology they promise a slice of the internet that is safe, respects the user, and is ethical - removing the ability to make reports, and to accept reports from other instances, makes their users more unsafe and makes masto at large unsafe (as there is now no recourse for users to go "hey, this guy on your instance is up to no good! please help me with this!").
that, to me, is the crucial failure - the raw chicken being served up with a side of molded bread and rotten spinach as "healthy".
@alexcleac@mastodon.technology it's also worth noting that not only do i think purism deserves all the heat for this they're getting - and the consumer word-on-the-street as "a rubbish product peddled by liars" - but it's also something that is making their promised product broken.
with no reports, many masto instances are preemptively muting/blocking purism's, as they will not let their users be made unsafe. but purism still promises access to masto at large.
