well i've now played enough mch to remember why i disliked playing mch

i really really hope a retooling of mch happens in shadowbringers. i know it's somewhat unlikely but i can hope.

mch right now is too much like sitting at a frustrating slots machine, and if you don't line things up EXACTLY, your dps just takes too much of a toll, so the pressure is to line things up PERFECTLY, which is incredibly tiresome when dealing with random procs.

honestly, it's like...

i sort of think of my other classes (rdm, smn) as having 'hot' and 'cold' phases. cold is where you are building up to your big burst of damage, or waiting to do it again.

like standing there spamming ruin - cold. popping dreadwyrm trance or then demi-bahamut - hot. building up mana as a rdm - cold. melee attacks then verholy/verflare - hot.

you switch back and forth between hot and cold, right? i think that's a nice rhythm for battle. but...

the hot phase for mch is frustrating because:

-the reliance on wildfire means that if you flub up your hot phase, you're fucked.

-the hot phase means you have to do a LOT to maximize it

-getting to the hot phase can take a variable amount of time (since attacks rely on rng)

-and what's worse is that you need to manage TWO hot phases, and coordinate them to happen at the same time, when overheat is much more finicky to manage and also has a punishment for a few secs after it ends

Follow

so what is the rest of mch like? the 'cold' phase is just... really annoying to me.

it's all proc-based, and you really need those procs because otherwise the rotation is not worth carrying through. so, get used to going 1, 1, 1, 1, 1...

you get some guaranteed procs from ammo but those you need for your hot phase.

it's just... fiddly and no-fun

and i like smn gdi!!!!!
