@roxy@snouts.online if it is useful information, the site is explicitly and emphatically *not* run by equifax. it's run by the settlement - it's a branch of the court case, essentially.
it's valid to go "i don't trust them either", but the settlement is an explicitly different entity from equifax, working in explicit opposition to their corporate interests, as demanded by law from the ruling. it's an agent of the court, not of the company.
@roxy@snouts.online it's a lot more likely that someone will try to fraudulently claim your payout. after all, addresses and names and social security numbers have already been leaked, and claiming other people's tax returns is a pretty common scam that happens (or at least gets attempted)
by all means be wise and careful with your data to your own individual comfort, but also know what's up and *who* you're handing your data to as part of that decision
