photorealistic images of pokemon have always creeped me out which is pretty weird, considering
except detective pikachu, it did it right

a light tone and acknowledgement it's silly business goes a long way towards vaulting over the uncanny valley
@wigglytuffitout @monorail everyone in the Pokemon world is an inherently cheesy person. Just read the dialogue. The cheesy acting in the movie is accurate because that's just how people are in that world
@wigglytuffitout @monorail yeah, like when i saw all the initial trailers and stuff for it, i was like "oh no this is way too uncanny for me, this is just, nooo i don't wanna see it"
but then i eventually got convinced to see it, and the way it was all set up, it was just "oh. well, this ain't too bad actually"
