There is a lot of bad naming in computing, but is there a worse one, than “string”.

“String”, presumably named for a “string of characters”, something literally nobody has ever called a piece of text.

“Text”, of course, being reserved as the name for the part of an executable file that contains machine code, which is specifically not text, having been turned from text into not text specifically for this purpose.

Actual text, of course, goes in a different part.

Follow

@WAHa_06x36 so "text" is a code string, and "string" is a line or section of text.

Do I have it right?
