i always get a surge of confidence after i make a new friend, and i spend days or weeks bouncing around like a big child. after a while, though, a feeling of loneliness starts to build(since, invariably, my friendships all spring from the fediverse), and i think a lot about how much better it would be if i could interact in person. these feelings combine into a bittersweet state, but the end result is that my net happiness and well-being increase with each new relationship
