@Xkeeper In my experience with the gaurded wording, which I add to most sentences (and then edit out of some. It happens even when giving advice or answers I'm certain about) is that statements containing "maybe" or "probably" are easier to backtrack on, and "tend(s) to" creates room for exceptions.
I've had considerable problems anticipating peoples reactions, understanding why they get angry and having to explain why I wanted certain things.
