1. platform comes out with hot new stuff (twitter, patreon, etc.)
2. platform grows huge, becomes the de-facto one of its kind, other ones wither
3. now owning everything, platform changes everything for the worse (for its own profits ofc)

by the time 3 hits all the smaller platforms are usually too small/dead to be palatable so everyone's forced to stay on the shitty bad one

@Xkeeper I wish there were a human psychological trait that makes groups of people go "fuck this" collectively and move on rather than the "everyone else is there, I might as well stay" that tends to happen.

@BatElite Part of it is that everyone already knows/is comfortable with The New Bad, and there's often a TON of work involved on getting onto a new platform
