Although I try to be sparing with self-deprecation on-line since I'm pretty sure it's not all that good for you, I sure do a lot of it in real life.

@lizardsquid The buildings always resemble churches, don't they? Any creation story inevitably ends up very abrahamic as well.

There was a post at some point on your tumblr about how the "be sparse and let the audience connect things" writing paradigm relies on a pool of shared knowledge. Going from that, I wonder how much that's caused "fantasy" to be so homogeneous and Europe-centred. Even outside of the "fantasy" pool there's not a lot of shared knowledge on cultures.

I found it odd how they're treated as actually existing and powerful, while being completely insular by region/people. The best example I can think of for what I'm talking about is when I played Runescape years ago: The gods have followers everywhere and bestow powers to followers, but then you wander off into a desert and suddenly there's an entirely different pantheon. Also none of them seem to actually compete ever.

@lizardsquid My fear of the dark is mostly gone - the "images" still appear around things like windowsills and doorways but they're completely ineffective.

Informing people/giving them an idea was the main point of the post, so I'm glad that works.

I'm mostly thinking of having rounder corners or something, but that'd require I learn html or whatever it takes.

I definitely will continue to do so. I just have a tendency to try and come up with something new or novel every time and I shouldn't be as strict with it as I am.

I'm wondering if the story has been embellished somewhat. I suspect doing that might risk the therapist their job? Maybe I'll ask about it next time he comes around.

@Xkeeper I don't have any trouble reading that sort of thing, but it's still not very pleasant.

Meanwhile on places where people can do custom layout colours most end up with better choices than the people paid for this stuff.
