I was let go at work yesterday, and while I’m relieved to be out of that place, I could really use some encouragement.

It had slowly become a nightmare working there with a boss who never communicated and whom I never seemed to get through to. It’s the first time all my skills have been irrelevant in the face of the total breakdown of a working relationship, and it’s left me doubting whether I had those skills to begin with.

I seriously wish there was like a mandatory class that all managers and supervisors needed to take before having any employees under them, and that failing said class would nuke their eligibility

@Chel on the bright side, now I know some red flags to search for in a prospective boss. Such an impressive, high-functioning person and an absolute nightmare manager. My coworkers told me three months in that the last two people in my job “broke” and didn’t last long either.

@leila I... would definitely have some questions if there was a particular manager that seemed incapable of having successful employees under them.

Like, that should be raising some red flags for whoever is over that person.
