it's hard to be a programmer when everyone bullies you and says "nice algorithms, dork" and "did your mother give you that while loop"
@lynnesbian hahaha, stuff like that is why i walked away from code for a while. i was in open source communities that were toxic af (everyone wanted to be Linus)
so this happened:
me: haha, it works
them: this algorithm is shit, we need to rewrite for best practices
me: but it works!
them: not perfect enough
*my contribution is removed*
*5 months later, no one else has figured out how to make a better method*
me: *facepalms so hard that my face is a funnel now*
