I used to have a friend of sorts (keywords: used to) that obsessed over doing this, particularly toward things that were popular in any way

non-niche music, movies, popular anime, popular books, etc. it was kinda maddening because he just would not stop - and had a habit of jumping into otherwise pleasant conversations about said things solely to crap on them

it was... ugh. 😬

I used to have the same sort of issue with alarms... I ended up getting a radio alarm clock thing, setting it between halfway between two AM radio stations (one of which did basically nothing but religious talk shows), and putting it on near max volume

the result was a horrific and devilish sound that would always cure me of any ability to go back to sleep damn near instantly, lol

...sounded not entirely unlike a lo-fi version of what you linked 😅

@porsupah There are a few nagging things here and there of that sort that have been causing my partner to slowly consider writing her own activity pub thingy

...considering that she previously wrote her own fully-featured forum suite in the past (live updating forum/blogs/status updates, pretty profiles, RP features, etc ) I'm interested in seeing how this plays out ^^
