free speech bullshit/philosophy (-)
when i was in college, i took a really boring philosophy course
we learned that there were two kinds of liberty (aka freedom) - positive liberty is the freedom to have free will, negative liberty is the freedom to act without any constraints and without regard for your fellow man
all "free speech" assholes should be required to take that course, what they want isn't free speech, what they want is freedom from the consequences of their speech
that's bullshit
online culture, ethnicity (-)
ive been thinking a bit lately about online culture and offline identity
except for someone being intentionally deceptive, i can get a really good idea of their background and beliefs after reading their writing for a while
i wonder if others do the same? i sometimes wonder what people think of me online - im a black nerd and we don't seem very common on mastodon
i sometimes wonder how this impacts how people read what i write? for the better, for the worse?
