so she’s been spending the day talking to me, talking to my mom on the phone, reading board game manuals, and lamenting the misery of her current existence. only prodigious amounts of ikea julmust and junk food is helping her to remain sane

@Torie i was a capitalist once. no really, a real one, working in the investment industry and aiming to become a banker and a philanthropist.

i traveled to the UAE to sell investment services. there i encountered money laundering, grotesque over indulgence, actual slavery, ridiculous amounts of poverty, an underwater hotel, and a prince

i was filled with disgust. i was so completely done by the time i came back that i became a socialist again. never went back. using my power for good.

negative past stuff

I sometimes have to look back in awe and wonder at the fact that basically everyone in my life through my school years were jackasses and/or abusers, online and offline

I had very, very few positive friendships through a rather significant portion of my life. 😅

(this toot not prompted by anything bad per se, I just had a memory that had been long forgotten float back up to the surface, and was mildly amused by it)

I’m in a much better place now to say the absolute least
