"Pikachu: An Artless Creation

According to Pikachu's creator Atsuko Nishida, Pikachu never had any art before she programmed its sprite. The sprite seen in Red & Green is the ORIGINAL Pikachu design.

Actually, lots of early Pokemon were created this way -- without even a sketch."

It's amazing how Enix was able to instill a relentless pavlovian bloodlust into entire decades of gamers by showing a single image

It would be so nice redd.it/ebx8b4

feed me into the woodchipper of validation and turn me into happy little wood chips to be used as mulch in the spring (selfie, ec, boosts are go!)

Email is good and nice and you should use it.

Pros:

- cryptography: well-established, platform agnostic systems
- authentication: identity verification readily available
- federated: can use any client you want, host your own server, send to anyone, etc.
- asynchronous: no pressure to answer (people don't see "read" status), can answer whenever
- low bandwidth: works on dial-up, bad cell signal, whatever
- opportunistic: can compose offline, send later when you get connected
- readability: inline replies are natural and easy and threading is built in
- simplicity: text is the universal human interface, can be easily parsed/searched/translated on the fly
- interoperability: huge software projects are managed by smart text parsing in emails, many web services offer email gateways/interaction

Cons:

- not "instant"
- protocol abuse means spam avoidance requires non-trivial effort
- HTML is allowed

I was fired last week by Google for organizing. All I did was make a popup to share the labor notice Google has to share with its workers.

3 hours later mgmt came to my desk, took my phone/laptop, escorted me away. I never got to say goodbye.
