@distelfliege yay voll shhön!! Und gut zu wissen, dass man den Ausschnitt verkleinern muss. Mag das zu weit auch nicht.
Cyberpunk dysphoria
Remember when we were younger, and we fantasized that cyberpunk was this awesome desired thing?
Where you could plug yourself in and digitally craft your entire everything, or have some spliced organo-mechano body sculpt so that you could appear outwardly as well as you felt inwardly, or just how much your overall appearance was modifiable?
Remember how excited you got inside when you fantasized that all these things were completely normal in that world, and that it would be worth it despite the utterly bleak dystopian backdrop that leeched all of the empathy, compassion, and civility out of being alive?
We're not there... we've DEFINITELY got the latter dystopian part, and we're still working on the first half, but the general world is not qvite as receptive to our crafting of our own images as would be ideal.
Hold on to those that are accepting of it. Hold on to them tightly.
This is how we survive the problems of the latter... how we navigate the dystopia.
We are better than the inhumanity of this world, because inside we are bright-neon, rainbow colored, shiny metallic, soft and comforting, hard and unflinching, loud and proud, qviet and caring, glowy-eyed beings.
We craft our existence despite being surrounded by these crumbling ruins of society, because who we are is all we have. They cannot take that away, because we won't let them.
You are worth every last gasp of breath that's inside you, every tear of sorrow, every dazzling spark of elation, and every shred of compassion.
I don't know if you needed that reminder or not... I just know that I did, today.
*Hugs softly*
Also, there are quite a few differences between (and even in) specific communities, because - wait for it - we are not all the same 👻
In Germany for example, people with what you would call "intellectual disabilities" mostly prefer the person first version "people with learning difficulties". In othter countries it's "person with an intellectual / cognitive disability".
You just learn it and respect it. It's that simple.
Oh and please: if you feel the need to explain your views on disability from an abled perspective to me - just don't. I'm not interested.
As usual... if someone specifically requests words like that for themselves you do that. It's their choice.
But most disabled people prefer identity-first language like "disabled person". No euphemisms.
There are some who prefer person-first language like "person with a disabilty", although it's mostly parents who prefer that.
Just make sure you at least talk about disabled people how they want to be talked about.
Better: talk to us and let us do the talking about us.
They come running to tell you not to call yourself "disabled" because that is disrepectful. And they don't even see their hurtful, disgusting ignorance by doing that.
Just ... please educate yourself and don't follow their disgusting lead in how to disrespect your own child and other people in general.

Hello! https://inventaire.io is a #libre social network to do the inventory of yours books, and share them with your friends and communities! It is developed by @maxlath and @jums and with the help of many contributors! Since last week, our authors pages link to #mastodon! (ex: https://inventaire.io/entity/wd:Q24939418 ) #Libre projects should support each others, right? :)

An article on Sopranica, "an open source, DIY cell network that allows smartphone owners to make calls, send texts and eventually browse the internet with total anonymity." https://motherboard.vice.com/en_us/article/595zg5/sopranica-jmp-wom-cell-network-diy-anonymous
Yes, winter days are short and dark, but sometimes we are rewarded with a beautiful sunrise, like his morning. #photography https://octodon.social/media/Z8h7HW3W7EXYlTofxCg
Look at what can go wrong when bringing metal things too close to the MRI machine ^^
You need to have a look at the last entry, it's a video of people trying to remove a chair from the MRI machine. It is a really strong magnet o.o
"Flying objects"
Yay, after #Pleroma I now also have #Mastodon running on my #RaspberryPi 3 \o/
The Mastodon docs are really good, only a few minor hitches.
I increased swap to 256MB but apart from that the Pi 3 seems to have sufficient resources, at least to handle a single-user instance.
If a story is ostensibly #steampunk but about the rich folks, does that make it steam-establishment?
Does anybody solve #adventofcode in #Delphi / #ObjectPascal?
Would be very interested in the solutions!
How many #InfoSec #SysAdmin #DevOps and other techie people have dedicated servers running and not being used most of the time to their full potential? I know I do.
Surely there is a way to have them connect and create a libre cloud - think of it as SETI@Home or Folding@Home, but for running services (say, docker containers or VMs).
That could create infrastructure for people who cannot afford their own servers, but would like to play with stuff.
PSA for people who #code:
Looking stuff up does NOT make you bad at coding.
"Not having to look up stuff" is NOT the benchmark for a good coder, especially as coders have to look up stuff ALL THE TIME!
And I don't mean highly advanced stuff, but stuff like "How does division work again?" or "What's that function called?" or my personal favorite "How to I nest for loops in list comprehensions?".
It's ok if you have to look up stuff!
oh and tea, please! very queer and autistic. disability. fibre. they-pronouns.
not much tech-related tooting but feelings and everything.
I like tea but: http://ko-fi.com/A674QB4
