I just wanted to say that if git feels like too much trouble right now and is keeping you from actually starting to learn python and code... maybe just focus on python and figure git out later :) You can still use the Issues in the firststeps project to talk about what you are doing, ask questions etc. And the Wiki. And look at code.

It would be sad if our choice of version control / communication platform would keep you from doing the thing!

I think there were some people on social.tchncs.de following me? Or did I just read them in some threads? Were they in the #pcode group? Well if they were they now wouldn't be able to answer me because we are no longer federating with this instance. I guess I will find out. At least I know I'm not missing people I actually know so this is ok.

I wrote a little thing today to get used to Python. It worked, I like the 🐍 already! Have a look at my firststeps branch if you like to find out how simple substitution ciphers work.

I am a bit disappointed that they didn't offer the cover to be purple, so i went for a boring very appropriate dark blue. I would have liked my computer science thesis to cause some irritated looks.

This is very sad. Purple should be an accepted color for these kinds of things.
