Hi fairydon, I'm still alive.

I have to correct a lot of awful assignments by confused students now so I thought maybe it would be nice to come here instead and pretend there is no work to be done. You know... 👻

Oh and have some 🍧

If you like #gameing and want Gamergate and its hangers-on to just go away forever, check out my Mastodon instance, elekk.xyz/ . Games of all types are welcome, and we've got no problem keeping it safe from assholes and the alt-right.

Oh, also, does anyone know if there is anything besides LineageOS that I should have a look at? I'm really not following these things enough.

I had Resurrection Remix on my old phone, but mainly because CyanogenMod didn't work well on it towards the end.

If anyone is interested in contributing to a #FLOSS project and knows about web programming:

@codeawayhaley announced she wants to create a federated blog system that looks/feels like Tumblr.

It will be based on mastodon code - the first tasks will be to adjust mastodons UI and add RSS feeds.

Github is github.com/haleyashleypraesent

Fascinating and in-depth blog post by the finder of a huge number of OpenVPN vulnerabilities that were not found by the recent code reviews. He both explains the vulnerabilities, and how he found them.

carefully produced for the true book lover."

I always prefer printed books, but it's nice to know these are there.

Fun Things to Try Instead of Looking at the Federated Timeline:

1. Paint your nails/do your hair/makeup/other things to make yourself feel nice.

2. Have something to eat.

3. Play a game.

4. Read a book.

5. Meditate.

6. Literally set yourself on fire.

I think not long ago I said that using Goodreads and Librarything worked ok for me…

Actually, I'm back to hating both. Why are they so terrible. Librarything is one huge compromise and really only ok as "I don't want to be ONLY on Goodreads", and I don't think Goodreads is even trying to be good at anything beyond the very necessities of book reviewing.

(Tell me of any alternatives that you might know, please.)

But I guess my dog then would want a human-walking bot. She's smart.

We then could let the bots walk each other. This would be fun.

It is just tooooo warm to walk the dog. Still. I wish I had a dog-walking bot for occasions like this.

Anyone have recent news of the national-level Elsevier boycotts in Taiwan and Peru?

So I started the and it's good 💚💙💜 Using up my sock yarn scraps for the first project. Looks like I still know how to do it after all those years. computerfairi.es/media/OOo_K_Z

Okay I need to walk the dog now and then it's barbecue time with the neighbors. But I know what I will dive into afterwards <3

@Jules Here's a fun fact: Weavers sorta had computers before computers existed. The jaquard loom used punch cards to save complicated brocade or damask patterns. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loom#Jac
They do belong in the family tree of inventions that led to modern computers. :D
