The new Top 500 list is out -- listing the top Super Computers in the world.

Which Operating Systems are being used by the world's Super Computers? Luckily they provided this handy pie chart to help us visualize it.

Crowdfunding a hacker zine

If you can spare some money to back a feminist hacker zine, "The Recompiler" sounds worth it imo :)

I haven't read it yet myself, but I'll give it a try... if it gets funded.
34 hours and about $ 5k to go.

Hi! I am currently working on comics "Growing Up Trans" about my experience as a deaf person finding their queer identity.

You can read them at here: tapas.io/series/whatqq

Hey, uhm, because I'm hearing that a lot of ppl would feel more yay about possibly joining mastodon if a "move account to different instance" feature existed (that included toots and maybe followers)…

what is the status on that? Last time I saw it discussed the likelyhood of it happening seemed to be "never ever", is that still the case?

I've been using Mastodon for awhile over at @chaognostica@witches.town.

If you're working on an inclusive game (something with POC/LGBTQ/female characters/relevant themes) please reach out to me, I would love to hear about it!

I can't guarantee coverage and I'm generally very busy but I'm always down to hear about new, inclusive things :)

hrt, question

More reasons to switch
• Emoji: Flagship has a few custom emoji, but many instances have their own unique set, and sometimes it's quite large!
• Rules: The mastodon.social moderator team is pretty top notch and their rules are pretty reasonable, but maybe you want something more restrictive, or less restrictive.

Show thread

Plenty of people are advertising instances to switch to, but why should you switch? Here are some reasons:
• Community: Some focus on a certain topic. With those, the "local" timeline is useful to talk about that topic.
• Theme: Some have custom theming or language tweaks that might be fun.
• Performance: Flagship mastodon.social is slow sometimes! Even if you don't notice it might be taking a while for your statuses to propagate.
• Tweaks: Some have extra customizations, like the doodle pad.

Any good resources (text, video,...) about wireless/radio transmission basics out there?

like what has data rate to do with high/low frequency, what actually is this bandwidth thing and what's with SNR, RSSI, dBi...

have to write a summary on all that and I'm tired.
