Tarsha Yar talks about "rape gangs" a lot and no one really questions it in universe...just like "oh there goes Yar again going on about the rape gangs, ignore her" what the fuck is a rape gang - I mean I get the meaning of the words but what kind of gang is that. Did the writers just try and write the most ridiculous sounding gang they could think of.
The first 4 episodes of TNG are irredeemable trash that if aired today would have seen the show cancelled,
