Detroit Become Human
*sigh* Holocaust and civil rights movement imagery is something that a lotta media borrows from. Very rarely does any of it do so to say something. Its almost always just shorthand to add weight to a story without actually building anything. A way for the writers to pat themselves on the back and say "I'm so smart yall!"
Detroit Become Human
Ya know the idea of this game is inherently flawed. There's all these big decisions and they're presented as being important and you have to make the right ones. That's not how it works Cage. You can make all the right decisions and things can still go wrong. You fucking shit goblin.
Detroit Become Human
In the context of the universe the way androids gain freewill is a fucking nightmare. Like you just wish really hard and you can make your own decisions. This is how Cage sees the world. Economic status, physical ability, or cultural factors don't inform your decisions you're just not trying hard enough!
Detroit Become Human
One thing, and this might change in the next few minutes as we venture into the company proper, is that we have no idea what Cyberlife is doing. They make the androids and afik have a monopoly. Clearly they would have an influence on the politics and culture around androids. This game has spent 10 hours and not once touched on the giant corporation.
Detroit Become Human
The government is not intervening at all with the company? They have thousands of robots on hand and on display but somehow nothing is being done about them? Is the government being payed off or controlled? Will the game bring it up? Probably not or if it does itll be for a sec and be empty and pointless.
Detroit Become Human
OK this is just a silly thing I noticed. Connor is being escorted in the Cyberlife building, he wants to free the robots, and the guards are taking him to floor 41. Reading the floor chart that's marketing. Connor needs to help them come up with a slogan for a new cola. Cyberlife is pivoting to cyber soft drinks.
Detroit Become Human
I gave Advanced Warfare shit for using Holocaust imagery as much as it did and boy howdy this game makes AW seem subtle and nuanced. The androids have to deactivate their skin? Like why? Also remove clothes cuz tasteless and shitty. Like jesus Cage finds newer depths every minute.
Detroit Become Human
Gamers are so poisoned. They have such a desire for gravitas and story that they see something like Detroit and latch on to it saying its art. When all you consume is games you want validation that its art. So gotta talk up something like Detroit cuz it has "THEMES" and "HEAVY THEMES"
Detroit Become Human
Holy shit thats a good point. The game doesn't use androids to rethink race it uses race to rethink androids. Cage used something that exists and has been analyzed and applied it to a fantasy to try and make it seem real. He faked it. Its nothing but a mask. Peel it all away and you're left with nothing because there is no substance.

Detroit Become Human, Nier
So Nier covered the topic of what it means to be human. Turns out there is no perfect human. Not for robots and maybe not even for us. Because we are all imperfect and stuck in an endless journey towards that perfection. We can try and try and never hit that. No one can Become Human is what I'm saying.
Detroit Become Human
God. The Chloe robot in the menu was so moved by watching you play that she now has sentience and wants to be free! Now you have the choice to let her go! AGAIN! No one has any sense of self! They are only defined by everyone else! Nobody thinks for their god damn selves in this game or wonders what their "self" is.
Detroit Become Human
Final Survey
"How often did this game move you?" Fucking fuck off.
"What was the toughest choice you faced in DETROIT?"
Well accepting Alice as a robot is easy cuz it changes nothing between them.
Being pacifist or violent with Markus was pointless.
Shooting Chloe as Connor was also pointless and fetishistic. So I would have to say the hardest choice in Detroit is selling the game on eBay or going to the Gamestop.
Detroit Become Human
@fillertrack hah, on the (presumably earlier) playthrough i watched it was at 92% no
Detroit Become Human
@LaserScheme God I gotta see what that survey looks like in a couple months.
