Dumb question: If replacing a broken AC adapter, can the amperage be higher than the one being replaced? I know voltage needs to be the same

@Morgan yes, current (amps) is what the psu can supply, it can be higher than the circuit draw

it cannot be lower or the psu will be overworked and will burn/blow out
