oh goddammit windows 10 is suddenly not detecting my second monitor.

and I know it's not the monitors, and I'm pretty sure it's not the graphics card. because my primary monitor worked (via HDMI to miniHDMI), but not my secondary one (DVI to DVI), but the secondary one (via HDMI to HDMI) worked just fine with my Rpi3b.

So I tested a different DVI-DVI cable. Plugged it in, worked!... but then my primary monitor turned off and won't turn on. fucksake. Trying new drivers for the gtx970.

this is after a reboot as well because always try a reboot first. it didn't help.
windows literally doesn't detect the second monitor. it only wants to detect one (and being iwndows it just says they're generic pnp monitors. ugh. I'm SURE I had drivers for them. Geforce's settings say it's a real monitor... bloody hell)
