reminder that being trans is the most cyberpunk thing there is, and if your cyberpunk story is cis it's shit.

@QueerGirlAudrey yeah but also being disabled is also the most cyberpunk thing there is
and abled cyberpunk is very trash

@Fidgetcetera Abled cyberpunk is always like "but if we replace parts of our bodies, are we really still human?" and disabled people are like, a thing in the real world? they exist and are definitely human like seriously guys this is not a good look.

abled cyberpunk

@QueerGirlAudrey this is hella true.
abled cyberpunk doesn't see disabled people as things other than "fixable/fixed" or "dying"
abled cyberpunk often relies on disfiguremisic and ableist tropes to set up villains by making them seem "gross" (a lot of fiction does this tbh)
abled cyberpunk just doesn't think about a future that disabled people want to imagine

abled cyberpunk doesn't envision someone with a powerchair as an active protagonist, forex

re: abled cyberpunk

@Fidgetcetera Oh god yeah, "ugly" = evil is the worst fucking thing.
Please just give us a disabled and/or disfigured protagonist (preferably queer and/or a PoC) screwing over a conventionally attractive white guy antagonist. Thats what I want. And dont do a shitty ableism and make it inspiration porn or a tragic tale bullshit. Just straight up a badass disabled hero. Please.

re: abled cyberpunk

@QueerGirlAudrey @Fidgetcetera i just wanna say

these are all amazing points and 100% fucking true.

cyberpunk has such a great aesthetic, but SO MUCH OF IT is mired in this ableist, closed-minded, cisheteronormative bullfuckery and I fucking hate it.

re: abled cyberpunk

@Nine @Fidgetcetera

It's basically brocialism: the genre. It's got the class struggle (at least in the not completely failed useless shit ones) but not much in the way of other forms of bigotry.

re: abled cyberpunk

@QueerGirlAudrey @Fidgetcetera this would be okay on its own if it ever attempted to address other forms of social issues but it (as far as I know) never does? Nobody ever really THINKS about it. they just... gloss over it all the time and it's so disappointing. like you have all the ingredients there! People just seem to gloss over it and lack imagination for some reason.
