I'm still trying to beat Metroid on NES I'm so tired, of this game already lol
@shadow8t4 oh jeez why not just play Metroid Zero Mission on the GBA it's so much better and basically the same story ^^;
@Nine I've heard that yeah but I don't own that, version and it's on the switch rn so I'm just playing it there cus save states and I'm a cheater. ;u;
But even with save states I don't like the NES version that much.
@Nine which is sad cus I loved the metroid 2 remake on 3ds and I loved metroid fusion.
@shadow8t4 Aw that's a shame. the Metroid Zero Mission game uses the same sort of gameplay as Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion (hence why it's SO GOOD :O ) and is essentially an expanded remake of Metroid on the NES. The NES honestly has a lot of "great" games, but they are all so old and so bogged down with early video game foibles and failings, and limitations, so a lot of them just aren't as fun as people want to remember.
@Nine I totally agree. I should have just used that version, I just wanted to have the "authentic" experience. That way my criticisms I feel can be leveraged without the whole "yeah well you didn't play the original game" argument.
@shadow8t4 (weirdly the NES version of Metroid is actually IN Metroid Zero mission. I think you can unlock it by completing the game c_c; )
@Nine it really is, but some people don't listen to you if you don't have that experience. Which is really dumb, but I'll take satisfying them and possibly gaining a friend over just closing myself off. Besides, I am genuinely interested most of the time in how the game was originally made to be experienced.
@shadow8t4 that's fair! the "Hidden Worlds/Areas" stuff is really iunteresting and cool too, especially how it actually comes about and happened!
@Nine that part is always interesting, and I honestly don't mind having to look up guides/maps for stuff like that when it's not required. but NES era tends to require stuff like that alot lmao.
@Nine but yeah in general fuck the NES library experience. I didn't grow up with it, I'm not used to it, and I don't like it. I understand the argument behind if you grew up with it, but I didn't, and I realize I'll never be used to it because I didn't have the same environment that most people who grew up with it had.
@shadow8t4 I kinda did grow up with it (I didn't own a NES but I grew up in that era), and oooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhh fuck so many bad old games.

the library of games that people laud as GOOD but are actually outright awful and whilst they were GOOD compared to some of the dross, they aren't ACTUALLY good, is friggin huge
@Nine that's why my NES library is fairly small. I only buy retro games that I've constantly heard good things about. That's what's important to me. I wanna see why a series continued, and while seeing bad games is important too, I'll take the words of others who want to analyze them lmao.
