@Doggo I heard that a lot of those "wacky infomercial" products are advertised the way they are (with typically white able folk) because of the perception that if abled folks see it marketed at them, they'll buy these "handy gadgets" and then go "oh right this might help my relative who can't open jars" etc and buy it for THEM, hence why they all have "comedically clumsy" people in the ads.

@Doggo I've no idea how true that is but just on general principle, on the offchance that IS the case, I stopped thinking about them as a comedy thing and more as a "fuck me capitalism is bullshit if this is literally the only answer they had for 'how do we get less abled folks to be able to buy our products' ".
