hrm, it seems if you're primarily playing with the pro controller, even if you have joycons connected, the game will not let you use the joycons for the motion control stuff
that's a bit of a shame

So Pokémon Sword and Shield uses both Ethernet and WiFi at the same time while the game is running in local mode, this allows the game to communicate with nearby switches that also have the game running, kinda like how it worked with Streetpass on the 3DS, but unfortunately only works while the game is running.
