@MadestMadness @Mycroft Apparently like, the whole dynamic of Elmer and Bugs was an allegory to a gay relationship where one partner (Elmer) was unable to reconcile his feelings with society's standards and could only openly reciprocate when the other, far less repressed partner (Bugs) dressed as a woman. You could read it that Bugs' constant tormenting of Elmer was all an allegory for trying to get him to just admit his feelings so the relationship is less toxic.
