Finally did that 30 day videogame music challenge thing!
... This thing :O
I'm gonna thread this thing, so it doesn't spam everyone, and i uh... I'm gonna post one a day rather than... all thirty at once because hahahahaahaha nobody needs THAT flooding their timeline.

So feel free to click back through the thread. Each day's entry will be titled with what it is too, so hence no alt-text on this one.

30 day videogame music challenge thread!

1: Title screen music - Gunstar Heroes - Legend of the Gunstars holy fuck what a title music seriously goddamn. Just... sets up the mood perfectly for the game, and just... everything about that soundtrack is pure gold too, and the game too. Play it if you haven't already, I heartily recommend it! youtube.com/watch?v=LBevYPzaBA

30 day videogame music challenge thread! Day 2

2: Opening level music - StarFox/Wing - Corneria. When I first played this game, it was like magic. I adored it. I rarely got to play it unless I was at a friends' house and they happened to have both a SNES and StarWing but fuck it, I still loved it. It was the first game I played when I started emulating games in the 2000s. Hell, I got ZSNES purely so I COULD play Starfox on my pc. youtube.com/watch?v=oBD3FO6ozX

30 day videogame music challenge thread! Day 3

8 bit music - Bet you thought I was gonna take the easy route and go with Wily Castle stage 2 from Megaman 2 huh? hahahaa, naaaah not happening. youtube.com/watch?v=QbXxMDlwfb Ninja Gaiden 2 - Battling Precariously motha fuckaaaaas. ... Though truth told I only actually first played this with Ninja Gaiden Trilogy on SNES Emulations. Brutally hard game, but that track stuck with me since then. Snes version doesn't add much more tbqh, but still good.

30 day videogame music challenge thread! Day 4

Console Exclusive Series - Scott Pilgrim Vs The World - Suburban Tram. Honestly, that game had such an amazing soundtrack and it's bloody criminal it hasn't been rereleased on other platforms than Xbox 360 and PS3 and is no longer available. Anamanaguchi pulled an absolute blinder with this soundtrack, blending chiptunes and conventional instruments, as they always do, in a wonderful soundscape. youtube.com/watch?v=9YCMBIgvFT

30 day VGM thing, oh shit it's day 5 :O

Hub/Overworld music - Val Harbour is kinda the main hub of Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate? You spend like, 90% of the story there in any case, with small trips to the other couple of areas, but mostly you'll be in Val Harbour instead. I love this track even now, and MH4U was my first Monster Hunter game. I played the hell outta it. Though MHW has spoiled me now. I can't go back to that old armour system ^^; youtube.com/watch?v=NYg_38oZP9

30 day VGM thing, day siiiiixxxxx (getting this out the way early today)

Music with a relaxing vibe - El Huervo - Daisuke, from Hotline Miami 1. Something about this wonderfully chilled, lo-fi track reminds me of sitting in a quiet laundromat in Tokyo, doing some loads of laundry. The only thing missing from that time was it not being late at night as well because this song fits that so well too? youtube.com/watch?v=go6po2Za_1

30 day VGM thing, day lucky number seven

Indie Game - Receiver/Receiver 2 - A Slow Mindkill : This track just... FUCK it's good. It's tense, it's atmospheric, it's pulse pounding. youtube.com/watch?v=WtWnYzu_Ky The Receiver 2 version "A Slow Mindkill: Mindkiller" is great too and ranks equally for me, though they have different feels. 2's is less pulse pounding, still tense as heck, but calmer, more measured, less harried.

30 day VGM thing, EIGHT.

Shooter (1st or 3rd Person) - Doom 2 "Bye Bye American Pie", AKA "Barrels O' Fun" AKA "Bobby Prince covering Alice In Chains' Dem Bones" :3 Still my favourite Doom track ever. youtube.com/watch?v=z81virrz6T

30 day VGM thing, (bonus round for day 8)

this cover of it rocks too :D (CW, gameplay of Doom 2 so you know, first person guns, violence, blood, gore, demons, flashing lights, and kinda wicked sick guitar riffs) youtube.com/watch?v=lcGY_DiTnb aaaand for the people who REALLY want the original, youtube.com/watch?v=wFgAE5SgFn ;3

30 day VGM thing, oh balls somehow i missed three days the fuck. day 9?

Licensed game - fuck I don't really play any licensed games, but I guess the original N64 Goldeneye counts. Facility is the one I remember the most.... realising now as well that the scott pilgrim game is technically also licensed. whups, lol. youtube.com/watch?v=_oMCy3IZAQ

30 day VGM thing, belated day 10

RPG battle music - hahahhahaha you fuckin' KNEW this was gonna come up but fuckin' RUDE BUSTER from Deltarune because GODDAAAAAMMNN yes. youtube.com/watch?v=7dRVuXYmB1

30 day VGM thing, belated day 11, spam over! It's been a weird week D:

Puzzle Game - "Sync" from Fez by Disasterpeace. though the Synch version from the Fez: Side F album is the version you more likely actually hear in the game, and just... ffffuckkk it's so good. youtube.com/watch?v=R7Y_D7kwZp

30 day VGM thing, day 12 hhhh

Sad music - Final Fantasy X-2 - Eternity: Memory of Lightwaves - This is the opening credits/prelude theme for FFX-2, and while I've not played it, I love this particular song. Something about it just sparks such a melancholy feeling in me, it's beautiful too and I can just listen to it over and over. I love it. Honestly my favourite final fantasy track ever. youtube.com/watch?v=F9ee_Ez6tF

30 day VGM thing, day 13 because I forgot about this thread again bleh

A game I don't like: Lucky 13 eh? Final Fantasy 8 is a game I just cannot ever get on with. I dislike its characters, the gameplay, the story, the aesthetics, the world, just... everything about it sucks imo, but I can't deny it has some great music. Balamb Garden for me is my favourite. It's such a nice, relaxing tune! I really like it, very peaceful! youtube.com/watch?v=1eU0tRBHnE

30 day VGM thing, day 14

Vocals - Yakuza 0 - Reign . just... the fuckin' epitome of badass fight musics holy shit. Gosh damn. Guess it helps that it's one of the key final battles when you're playing as Majima, if memory serves. God I need to play that game again I loved it to bits. youtube.com/watch?v=ACUhXbJyz3

30 day VGM thing, day 15, missed a day due to ill

boss battle - shit i shoulda used Reign for this one lol. ah well. No I'm not gonna do Megalovania that's just too easy, and besides, that's not Sans's boss music, is it? ;3 No, for this one I'm going with Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Final Boss music: youtube.com/watch?v=x0BsDuS3xl . Also, I'm not gonna lie, the Sonic Generations 3ds version of this very track, Big Arms, is absolutely incredible so I'll link that too: youtube.com/watch?v=MVQjrIcwyE

30 day VGM thing, day 16 too

16 bit - aaaah fuck and I already used Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Ah well, time to post somethin' unexpected again I guess. Streets of Rage 3 - Dub Slash! SOR3's OST gets a lotta flack for being so unconventional as well as a massive departure from the previous two games, but I loved it all the way through. Dub Slash is my favourite, with The Poets II coming a close second. youtu.be/ATM5EptuGxA

30 day VGM thing, day 17

A song I never get tired of - Die Anywhere Else from Night in the Woods - An absolutely incredible game and this particular track was my absolute fuckin' favourite. It was a joy to play in the minigame, and there's an incredible cover by MandoPony on youtube of it. CW - Death mention in the lyrics for it, flashing lights in at least one of the video, semi-eyecontact as well. youtube.com/watch?v=z3EKPTyUl0 . youtube.com/watch?v=6kYTe25h-b

30 day VGM thing, day 18

Released in Birth Year - okay I redid this one because I don't feel like outing my birth year, I've already shown my age enough so far ._.; instead let's go back to the first bit of vg music I ever remembered and loved. youtube.com/watch?v=os57CXh6CO Robocop's title music for the Spectrum (128K version, gotta love that AY chip!), by Jonathan Dunn. The GB game used the same track, and you might ALSO be going "and on and Ariston" in your head like I still constantly do because aaa

30 day VGM thing, day 19

Cover of music by another artist - I THINK this is to do with a song from a videogame that you like the COVER version of, I guess... hm. In which case, "Dream of a Rabbit Singing in the Night" by Undead Corporation. youtube.com/watch?v=tGSnW2bK2c Touhou has some great music but not a lot is super listenable to me? But this version of Reisen's theme is absolutely incredible, vocals and all. Wonderful blend of electric guitars and traditional instruments.

30 day VGM thing, day 20 because i missed a day heck

Racing game - Splash Wave from Outrun, of course! The original, the best, my absolute favourite out of that game, and even when I play other racing games... I'm still thinkin' 'bout Outrun. Can't help it! I don't think I've found a version of Splash Wave I don't like honestly. (that is not a challenge please ;w; ) youtube.com/watch?v=ZdSDIw8uTx

30 day VGM thing, day 21

Associated with Frustration - everything on this goddamn list now lol. Realtalk though, the OG Pokemon battle music... youtube.com/watch?v=2Jmty_NiaX though this goes for ALL JRPG battle musics. I. HATE. random encounters. It is so jarring, and startles me sometimes, and also just... TOTALLY breaks my flow. Ugh. This might be why I can't even play FF7 these days now. :<

30 day VGM thing, day 22

Town/village - This was a tough one to remember, but "Together Always" from Secret of Mana on the SNES. Lovely bouncy tune! youtu.be/uA-D1Tf6H6Q And a great fun game too. Wonderful blend of action and RPG elements, and sure it's a little rough around the edges in gameplay and story, but it's still a great fun game with BEAUTIFUL backgrounds. The sequel, otherwise known as Trials of Mana now amps that up to 11 in many cases.
