mindboggling to me that Big Top Burger postulates several things
1: General populace largely believe clowns aren't real and it's all costume, but it's possible that clowns WERE once real, and were a separate species
2: Steve is an ACTUAL, GENUINE Clown, ergo, has some reality bending powers.
3: Cesare, his rival in Zomburger, knows this, is aware of this, might legit be a real zombie/vampire/undead himself, and there is/was an undead v clown war.
4: Steve's son is an Elk.
5: Steve also has a daughter. a daughter we never see. One can only guess what she might be.
6: Steve can TELEPORT as one of his clown powers. and also switch clothes or items with someone in an instant and can summon food and items from nowhere. These powers are demonstrated repeatedly, in Kid and Elk especially, but also in Stove, the first episode.
7: Steve does not bother to correct Penny, Billie or Tim on them claiming clowns aren't real, despite obviously hearing them, merely chuckling.
Ergo:
Steve is perhaps one of very few clowns left in the world, or might even be the last one, but is a gentle, and possibly immortal, soul who simply wishes happiness and joy for everyone, and just wants to serve tasty, fun burgers, which people clearly enjoy.
This is why Penny is so accepting of Steve and his weirdness, as she is a good sort too, and Tim continues to work with him, despite him being weirded out by his boss. Billie will eventually come around I'm sure.
oh dear am i infodumping about big top burger ._.;
*marks it up on the list of things they will ramble about unprompted for hours given even half a chance, alongside Gunstar Heroes*
and also Steve himself starred in a broadway production of CATS as Old Deuteronomy but the lyrics to the title/end credits song imply that Steve lost this part to someone else, a mysterious "he".
Could it be... that Cesare stole the part from Steve somehow? Due to maybe spiking Steve's lunch one production, hence his rise to fame and Steve's fall from grace, because Steve clearly remembers that time fondly in Kid, and apparently had a beautiful singing voice.
