imagine if the Atari ST booted up into "real mode" and initially only had access to 128 bytes of RAM, for Atari-specific historical cultural legacy reasons

@jk I used to ahve a dream that my Spectrum 128K+2 had a secret mode you could activate with a special code that would reboot it and turn it into a full arcade capable machine with megabytes of ram, blistering 16 million colours, 3d graphics and full 16 bit audio.

@Nine someone should make a cartridge or something that does that. to make your dream come true

@jk i mean it SORTA has in a way cooler way than I could have ever expected, what with ULAPlus: sites.google.com/site/ulaplus/ which, imma be real, is incredible

@vfrmedia @jk agh yeah, I always wanted one of those. ;w; They looked so nice!... but then I also always wanted an Amiga but uhhh... that never happened either ._.;

@Nine @vfrmedia my dad had an amiga but i wasn't allowed to use it because i was too young i think, but i WAS allowed to switch it on and watch the screen fade in from grey to white. i realise now, looking back on it, it's because i was a young kid who was good at crawling behind stuff and he didn't want to crouch down on the floor to flip the power switch on the power supply unit

@Nine @vfrmedia later on i did get to play around with it but it was shortly replaced by some pentium or something, which was a lot more boring and had worse colors

@jk @vfrmedia for real how did we allow that to happen as a species fuck, we really fucked that one up huh.

we had the fuckin' amiga with all its beautiful colours and sounds, and we really were like "nah let's have this PC instead it's faster but lol good luck with everythign looking and sounding like complete ass for an extra decade rofl"

@Nine @jk @vfrmedia sounding especially, the Amiga had the best sound of anything for like two decades :-/

@ifixcoinops @jk @vfrmedia I mean granted that was largely because of samples and tracker style music, but even friggin so. god. just... so many pc games relied on adlib and early soundblasters and jsut... sounded so bad. if you could even get them. Else it was PC Beeper for you hahahahaaaaaaaAAAA

@ifixcoinops @jk @vfrmedia oh okay i guess you could use a roland MT-32 or something I guess if you were like... fuckin' LOADED and also a PROFESSIONAL MUSICIAN AS WELL

@ifixcoinops @jk @vfrmedia also midis always have and always will sound garbo and i will die on this hill

@ifixcoinops (except canyon.mid that one gets a pass it's p. cool)
