i just recorded a few samples of popping bubble wrap, and only noticed after looking closely that the waveforms of each 'snap' are almost identical. i thought i had accidentally copy-pasted the same sound twice, but you can actually see the impulse generated by the sound is so short and broad-band that the sound itself is dominated by the ~100ms of reverb in the room, which is unchanging. cool to think that each of those peaks following the first corresponds to various objects in my living room
