@elrena i think that abandoning words or symbols claimed by fascists if they haven't been involved in massive harm done to minorities is a bad idea.
i'd never try to argue for the reclaiming of the svastika or other nazi symbolism because that has been historically involved in much material harm (although "degenerate" is being reclaimed by some)
but not saying "fren" because of one nazi subreddit? not a good tactic. it would mean that we are submitting and playing by their rules.
@categorille @elrena it's not because of one subreddit, it's because of an entire onboarding strategy. they specifically use it to make their shit look palatable. we need to not allow it to look palatable
